MADAM WONG
Madam Wong joined Kaybee Singapore in 1998.
In the last 24 years she has worked tirelessly on any task given to her, working in the sample room, keeping the pantries spotless, giving us endless cups of tea and coffee – while somehow managing to be largely invisible.
Everything she does, she does with meticulous care – cutting fabric samples, making color cards, packing yarn parcels.
Even when she slices cake during our anniversary or birthday celebrations, she shows us her best qualities – she is careful, deliberate and strives for perfection.
Despite her advancing years and the toll all this activity surely takes on her body she has never complained of having a bad day at work.
She hates the spotlight and doesn’t like to be photographed.
These photos that capture her personality, are therefore rare glimpses of her.
What I’ve learnt from Madam Wong:
- Aim for quiet efficiency
- To do your job with dignity
- To keep going and keep yourself relevant.
